What is powder coating?
Powder coat is a protective and aesthetic coating that is applied over metallic objects. It is different from other coatings as it is applied to the work in an electrostaticly charged, powder form. The work is then heated in an oven to 375-400 degrees Fahrenheit, which flows the powder into a variety of different colors and textures. The range in a custom powder coater's palette is limitless. Desired effects are achieved by layering multiple solid to translucent colors that can have a glossy, matte, veined, or wrinkled finish. The final effect is identical to the look of paint, but ten times stronger than its solvent-based cousins. This is why powder coating is the ideal finish for objects that require a durable and protective finish like bicycles, furniture, brackets, and, auto and motorcycle parts.
What's with all the bicycles?
Powder coating bicycles is our specialty. Bicycle owners demand the same high quality finish as do owners of cars and motorcycles. Powder coating a bicycle requires an eye for detail, highly specialized skills, and an array of specialized tools. Due to the bicycle's relatively small size and multitude of details, flaws in the finish are easily noticed so selecting the right powder coater is essential. UV Metal Arts & Powder Coating is fully equipped with training and tools to produce the best powder coating for bicycles that is always guaranteed.
